Ho ho ho, no grumpy faces allowed! The DES students just scored a free book for the holidays! Every Christmas, they get to pick a book from the library as their festive treat. This year marks the 10th time the DES library has played Santa with its book giveaway. By diving into different stories, kids can explore new people, places, and events that are way outside their usual bubble. Reading is like a magic potion for students—it sparks their imagination and boosts their brainpower! When kids realize how awesome reading is, they can unleash their inner superheroes!

In Mrs. Gilbert's third-grade class, the students took the timeless story of Stone Soup and set out to create their own delicious dish! Each young chef contributed a unique ingredient, transforming the classroom into a fantastic kitchen. They discovered that sharing is like adding spices—it enhances the flavor of everything! Who would have thought that a group of third graders could cook up a lesson in kindness along with a hearty pot of soup?
